ADA Guidelines for Bathrooms

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) specifies that bathrooms in public accommodations and commercial facilities must be brought into accordance with certain guidelines so that they may be used with ease by people with disabilities.

The terms "public accommodation" and "commercial facilities" refer to stores, shopping malls, restaurants, hotels motels, schools, and places of that nature that are open to the public. You can also purchase ada sinks for bathrooms via online sources.

ADA compliance is required in any place that is open to the public. Failure to bring these places into compliance with the ADA specifications is seen as a "failure to remove barriers", which is a form of discrimination.

ADA Sink guidelines

In order to make a sink accessible to someone in a wheelchair, they must not be more than 34 inches above the floor level if they are to be used mostly by adults. This sink will also require space in front or to the side of them, to allow for an easy approach by someone using a wheelchair.

Clear space will need to measure at least 30 inches by 48 inches. In an environment where the main users of the sink will be between the ages of six and 12 years, the sink only takes 24 inches of clearance.

If the user is a young child of five, clearance is not required if there is room to approach the sink from the side. Style faucet lever may be operated or operated through touch or motion sensor.
