A partner visa permits the owner to live permanently in Australia. It is available to spouses or de facto partners of eligible Australian citizens, Australian residents, and New Zealand citizens.
There are two types of partner visas:
- Coastal Partner Visa (Subclass 820/801)
- Offshore Partner Visa (Subclass 309/100)
When applying for an onshore spouse visa, the applicant must be in Australia at the time of application and at the time of permit. When applying for an offshore spouse visa, the applicant must be outside Australia at the time of application and at the time of permit.
Anyone who successfully proves that they are in a marriage or long-term partnership (from the age of 3 years or 2 years with a child) will receive a permanent visa (subclass 801 or subclass 100) after the application is checked. Sponsor:
The applicant must be assisted by an Australian citizen who is a permanent resident of Australia or an eligible New Zealand citizen.
Identity:
Applicants and sponsors must provide proof of their identity, in most cases, a passport, birth certificate, and identity card will suffice.
Health Assessment:
The candidate must perform a health evaluation test, chest X-ray, and HIV examination test to demonstrate that Australian taxpayers are unlikely to incur excessive public health costs. Applicants who do not undergo a health assessment can apply for a health exemption primarily based on their financial ability to reduce costs.
